ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST PART TIME SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Finance and Business Department activities through general accounting and bookkeeping functions according to Agency policies and procedures that result in accurate and timely records subject to audit and in compliance Federal and State regulations. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: - Will exemplify the Service with Heart attitude that is expected of all employees.
- Responsible for general accounting and bookkeeping functions related to both accounts receivable and accounts payable including daily deposits vendor payment processing and preparation of general ledger journal entries
- Serves as backup to finance coordinators including payroll and retirement plan processing monthly billing and donation statements
- Responsible for the proper handling of confidential and sensitive information related to employees and customers and possibly subject to HIPAA laws
- Prepare and/or update various daily monthly annual reports for management review
- Assist with audits and surveillance reviews conducted by funding agencies and independent auditors
- Assist human resources during benefits renewal and open enrollment periods
- Support CFO and other team members as necessary; responsible for telephone duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Detail oriented and organized; exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of accounting principles including a/p a/r payroll; GAAP
- Strong math analytical and technical skills
- Proficiency with MS Office notably Excel Outlook and Word
- High School diploma
- Two years professional experience preferred
- Must meet the Agencys general requirements and pass comprehensive background check
