Job Description

Overview of the Malden Public Schools:

The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train. Maldens student body comprises approximately 6800 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. We have 1 early learning center 5 K8 schools and 1 high school. Job Description

General information for the MOST AfterschoolStudentHelperposition recommended by the Grow Your
Own program staff at Malden Public Schools.


Student must submit a letter of interest that includes information about themselves and previous work or
volunteer experience if any. Letter must include your availability: days of the week you are available and
what time you could arrive at the program.


StudentHelperpositions are available at Beebe Forestdale Linden and Salemwood. The program
operates MF from 2:155:30pm and from 11:00am5:30pm on Friday PD early release days. The rate is
$16$17 per hour.


StudentHelperResponsibilities

  • Assist Teachers with supervision *StudentHelpersare not to be alone withstudents.
  • Assist Teachers with program/activity setup and/or cleanup
  • Help with cleaning program spaces organizing equipment etc.
  • Develop appropriate relationships withstudents
  • Develop professional relationships and communication skills with peers/coworkers staff and the Site Coordinator/Supervisor
  • Develop foundational job skills: attendance and punctuality; workplace appearance; accepting directions and constructive criticism; motivation and taking initiative; following program/workplace rules; speaking and listening skills.
  • Develop basic teaching and instructing skills ex. providing instructions to an activity leading a game presenting a project etc. (individual goals will be set with Site Coordinator)
