Job Description
Manage the Global Trade Compliance function in the Americas region. This position will be responsible for strategic direction development oversight and continuous improvement of policies procedures and internal controls for export and import. The role will provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the Company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations related to export and import activities in the Americas. This position will assess regional trade risks and provide strategic assistance with managing and facilitating the Global Trade Compliance program.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop implement and continuously improve policies and procedures to successfully manage the Companys Trade Compliance program across the Americas region in the following areas: Export Controls Export Licensing Due Diligence Denied Party Screening Sanctions Reexports Import Regulations AntiBoycott and other applicable regulations.
  • Manage customs and partner government agency authority relationships including response to government inquiries and audits.
  • Oversee import/export applications and registrations as the main point of contact with the respective agencies.
  • Assess and help with the implementation of trade simplifications and system solutions for effective management of the Companys export and import transactions while complying with local requirements and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to create efficiencies increase compliance and improve controls.
  • Develop implement and conduct regional compliance reviews and audits to measure compliance assess possible risks and violations.
  • Recommend and oversee corrective actions within business operations programs and practices.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in current import and export regulations pending legislation evaluate risks to guide recommendations propose solutionsand drive improvements throughout the organization.
  • Manage and coach Trade Compliance team members.
  • Provide compliance oversight and guidance to the teams responsible for the operational of import / export activities.
  • Examine reports and metrics pertaining to various elements of the regional Trade Compliance program.
  • Report out to the senior management on trends areas of concern and improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for employee communication and training programs that focus on the Trade Compliance elements for regional implementation.
  • Maintain quality control and oversight of inhouse import and export classifications valuation and country of origin determinations.
  • Align regional trade compliance capabilities with Global Trade Compliance strategic priorities and industry leading practices in partnership with key contributors across the business.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of international trade experience defining strategy and driving organizational vision and direction.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience building and leading teams or Trade Compliance programs.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customs and partner government agency authorities including responding to government inquiries and audits.
  • Thorough knowledge of export controls and import regulations including EAR. Ability to research and interpret complex theories of trade law to outline possible solutions and practical actions.
  • The ability to translate broad plans and directives into clear assignments and expectations to manage through changes and problems.
  • Proven track record of implementing scalable compliance solutions (procedures systems and processes).
  • Exceptional statistical and organizational skills with ability to anticipate problems and take proactive actions to make the Companys Trade Compliance better and more efficient.
  • Proven knowledge of customs valuation import and export classifications free trade agreements and origin determinations.
  • Ability to drive complex crossfunctional projects including setting scope reaching consensus executing tasks and presenting results
  • Authority in evaluation of risks with demonstrated ability to assess risk and guide decision making process
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with business partners.
  • Adaptability to completing demands and shifting priorities with ability to integrate a wide variety of information to arrive at optimal solutions while addressing all elements of an issue.
  • This role requires working onsite in our Peachtree Corners office Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday every week.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25 both domestic and international.

Required Education and Training:

  • Minimum bachelors degree in international trade international business law or closely related field.
  • Licensed Customs Broker U.S. or similar professional trade certifications.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced with MS Office including knowledge of Excel Access and PowerPoint
  • SAP knowledge and experience with implementing global trade automation solutions
  • Knowledge of tariff classification and trade regulations in medical industries
  • Proficiency in Spanish written and verbal is a plus.
