Glide Memorial Church is a hybrid spiritual center of healing faith justice and community for everyone. Each week people experience Glides legendary Sunday Celebrations. Glide Church offers everyone opportunities for social connection and acknowledgment of personal social and spiritual transformation. Since the 1960s The Glide Ensemble and the Change Band have spread the spirit of unconditional love through music voice rehearsal and performance. The Ensemble shares in songs and stories of empowerment an infectious message of diversity acceptance and love.
Position Summary:
This is a part time 20 hour/week) Non Exempt position.
The Spiritual Care Coordinator will provide holistic and compassionate leadership training and direction to a team of Spiritual Care Navigators as well as individuals and families facing serious illness advanced illness palliative care and endoflife transitions. This role involves offering emotional spiritual and practical support to those dealing with health challenges through bedside visits outreach creative arts workshops and other faithbased programs. The specialist will be part of a multidisciplinary team working to meet the diverse spiritual needs of patients families and caregivers ensuring dignity peace and comfort during times of significant health crises.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Spiritual Support & Counseling: Provide individualized spiritual care training and counseling to patients families and caregivers respecting the diverse religious and spiritual beliefs of each person. Offer prayer presence and empathetic listening at bedside and in other settings.
    • Palliative & EndofLife Care: Offer emotional and spiritual support to patients in the palliative and endoflife stages facilitating meaningful conversations around death dying and legacy and helping to honor patients values beliefs and wishes.
    • Training: Colead training workshops for Spiritual Care Navigators. Colead trainings for Congregants Community Members and GLIDE Staff on the Spiritual Care Navigator Program.
    • Creative Arts Workshops: Organize and lead creative arts workshops (such as music therapy art therapy journaling or poetry) to help patients and families express their emotions find healing and explore their spirituality in a safe nonjudgmental space.
    • Outreach & Engagement: Develop and maintain outreach programs to connect with individuals and families in need of spiritual support particularly for those who may be isolated or experiencing significant health challenges.
    • Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with medical nursing and social work professionals to ensure coordinated care and address the spiritual emotional and psychological needs of patients and families. Collaborate on care planning decisionmaking and endoflife planning as appropriate.
    • Grief Support: Provide grief counseling and support for families and loved ones who are coping with the loss of a patient offering followup services and ongoing support through bereavement care.
    • Educational Program Development: Design and lead faithbased groups and workshops for patients families and caregivers focusing on building resilience coping with illness and finding spiritual peace during difficult times.
    • Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of spiritual care activities visits and progress ensuring compliance with ethical and organizational standards. Document and report on the spiritual needs and interventions provided.
    • Cultural Sensitivity & Inclusivity: Ensure that services are inclusive and culturally sensitive respecting the diverse religious spiritual and cultural backgrounds of patients and families.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 23 years of experience in faithbased organizing pastoral care spiritual counseling or a related field preferably in a healthcare or endoflife setting.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and establish rapport with patients families and team members.
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to various religious and spiritual traditions and practices.
    • Ability to provide compassionate support in emotionally charged sensitive and sometimes challenging situations.
    • Experience in grief counseling and emotional support especially in palliative and endoflife contexts.
    • Comfort and experience in facilitating group programs including creative arts workshops reflective practices and spiritual rituals.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
    • Ability to provide clear concise and timely documentation of spiritual care services provided.
    • Successful completion of regulatory compliance requirements.
$34 $37.50 an hour
This is a part time 20 hour/week) Non Exempt position
This role is covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
