Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides functional and productive leadership at the school level for the purpose of qualitatively improving the educational program. Accountable for student educational progress and achievement.
Works with faculty and staff integrating ideas materials and people into a harmonious working unit for the achievement of District and School mission and District goals and objectives through participatory management and decisionmaking process.

Executes both executive and educational responsibilities.

Evaluates programs and staff to ensure continued student academic program and achievement.

Promotes career excellence through standard evaluations.

Functions effectively as a Superintendents Council member.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent and Governing Board

MAJOR TASKS:

  1. Represents the Superintendent as the chief executive officer and educational leader of the school to which assigned.
  2. Operates the school within established Board policies and regulations District directives and procedures and State statutes.
  3. Makes rules and regulations as needed to supplement and support Board policy mission goals and objectives.
  4. Administers the school by creating a school climate that ensures effective teaching by teachers and learning by pupils.
  5. Monitors the instructional programs at the building level through staff and program evaluation to be provide for instructional appropriate to the abilities of the students.
  6. Evaluates staff.
  7. Monitors instruction at the building level to minimize classroom disruptions and maximize objectiverelated student learning.
  8. Implements a school wide program of student management utilizing consistent rules positive reinforcement and appropriate negative consequences.
  9. Demonstrates with every decision the priority placed on high expectations for student achievement and utilizes objective measurement of student academic progress.
  10. Utilizes the supervisory process to teach teachers and qualitatively improve instruction.
  11. Contributes to the qualitative improvement of the educational programs in the District through constructive efforts with other administrators.
  12. Keeps the Superintendent and his/her staff informed with regard to the schools educational program activities and needs.
  13. Sets an example of democratic educational leadership by encouraging a free flow of ideas and active participation in the development of the educational program.
  14. Establishes appropriate objectives for the school instructional program within State and District guidelines and assist in the appraisal of student progress on a grade level and schoolwide basis.
  15. Coordinates the budget preparation and business affairs of the school.
  16. Maintains appropriate personnel practices to secure and maintain the best staff while creating good morale.
  17. Keeps the community informed about the school; encourages community participation whenever possible which contributes to the welfare of the pupils.
  18. Pursues a program of professional growth which enables the principal to remain abreast of excellent educational leadership practices.
  19. Accepts and supports the policies of the District and effectively communicates ideas and directives.
  20. Ability to obtain or possess an Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
