Role Summary:
Perform all activities that are custodial in nature and deemed appropriate by the Head Custodian or administration. Clean and maintain all assigned workspaces and equipment. Keep buildings and grounds neat and clean at all times. Understand and follow safety procedures as provided by the district.

Responsibilities:
- Shovel plow and/or sand walks and steps
- Scrub and disinfect toilets daily
- Clean drinking fountains daily
- Empty and clean trash containers daily
- Clean chalkboards as needed
- Keep floors clean and attractive and in a good state of preservation
- Grounds keeping tasks as assigned
- Wash windows inside and out as needed
- Raising and lowering flag each school day
- Assure buildings are checked during holidays for heating and security purposes
- Provide custodial coverage during after school activities or as assigned
- Assist in setup and cleanup of school activities
- Assist maintenance in assembling new furniture
- Check the safety of playground equipment once a month
- Immediately reports any damage to the school and follows through with repair
- Reports safety sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor
- Responsible for changing light bulbs as needed
- Responsible for moving furniture supplies and equipment within building or to and from buildings as required for various activities
- Responsible for opening and closing buildings each day ensures all windows are secured before leaving and checks that lights are turned off
- Maintains equipment used in the course of work
- Regulates heat and ventilation system to provide appropriate temperatures for the season to ensure economical use of fuel water and electricity with maintenance approval
- Responsible for minor building repairs as he/she is capable of doing
- Maintains an inventory of supplies equipment fuel on hand and requests replacements from Facilities Director in timely manner
- Prepares cooperative work schedule with other custodians
- Attends meetings are required
- Adheres to Board Policy and Colorado State Law
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Physical ability to perform job responsibilities
- Willingness to do the job
- Knowledge of methods of cleaning
- Ability to set appropriate priorities
- Selfmotivation
- Valid Colorado Drivers License
- Ability to read write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill duties
- Previous experience as custodian or equivalent work
- Ability to learn basic functions of all boilers and other major equipment
- Hold a valid first aid certificate
- Must pass Background and Criminal Justice Fingerprint Check
