POSITION OVERVIEWMcAuliffes Director of Student Services is responsible for overseeing the schools Student Services Department which includes special education English language learning nursing and Title I services and programming. The primary functions of the position are to ensure quality programming for students in these subgroups and ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. The Director of Student Services reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Special Education Coordinator the ELL/Title I Coordinator the school nurse specialists and special education teaching staff.** Education Licensure and Employment History Masters degree and special education licensure Two or more years as team chair or special education administrator/director. Two or more years of teaching experience in middle or high school.** Philosophical Alignment: Demonstrated passion for educating middle school students Belief in and commitment to the schools Expeditionary Learning mission** Experiences: Coordinating and managing special education service delivery. Building partnerships with families and involving families as members of the IEP / 504 Team. Facilitating annual threeyear and initial evaluation meetings with highly involved families and advocates.** Technical Knowledge & Skills Include: Indepth knowledge of IDEA and 504 laws and associated regulations processes and procedures. Skilled at interpreting psychoeducational evaluations and determining eligibility for special education Knowledge of current ELL laws and regulations (federal and state). Writing IEPs and coaching special educators on IEP writing including measurable goals and benchmarks Use of ESped Google Docs platform and Excel/Google Sheets. Aptitude for building efficient and coherent systems for special education and ELL. Setting and focusing longterm shortterm and daily priorities while minimizing distractions.
