Resumes are not accepted in lieu of an application.Inperson interviews will be held the week of April 14th 18thThe City of Folsoms Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting for Recreation Leader III: Preschool Aidesin both the temporary parttime and oncall capacityto support the Community & Cultural Services Division.
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator & Preschool Teacher assist the Lead Teacher with students and daily curriculum in a classroom atmosphere. The duties of this position are performed MF within the hours of 8:30a.m. 12:30p.m. Additional hours may be assigned as needed for training and other specific activities.
Pay & Benefits- Nonexempt salary: $18.50 $19.50 per hour depending on experience
- Temporary Parttime positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 June 30. No fulltime regular appointment will be made from this class.
Note:Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with parttime positions.

NOTE: Duties may include but are not limited to the following:- Planning and implementing curriculum alongside the lead teacher.
- Assist in various group activities for preschool children ages 34 yrs old including games arts and crafts carpet time.
- Room preparation and clean up.
- Interact and actively participate with children.
- Participate in maintaining a clean neat and safe environment.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Employment Standards
Knowledge of:- Practices and methods of public relations and customer service; techniques and principles of effective interpersonal communication.
- Practices of supervising children ages 34 yrs old.
- Basic methodology of organizing groups programs and services in a recreational setting for those preschool aged.
- Safety principles and practices including basic first aid and adult and/or child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) methods.
- English usage spelling vocabulary grammar and punctuation.
- Techniques for effectively dealing with individuals of various ages various socioeconomic and ethnic groups and effectively representing the city in contacts with the public.
- Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public vendors contractors and City staff.
Ability to:- Communicate well orally and in writing.
- Organize prioritize and pace duties and tasks.
- Follow oral and written directions.
- Establish and maintain effective cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm positive energy and maturity.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire or possession of a High school diploma or G.E.D.. Some college is preferred.
Candidates who have completed at least 6 semester or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education at an accredited or approved college or university are preferred. Recreation Art Music or Physical Ed. units may be substituted provided that these units were relevant to preschool age children.
Experience:
Minimum one 1 year of experience working with children in a preschool setting.
License Certificate Registration Requirements:
Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent sitting standing walking kneeling bending stooping and crouching. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Perform repetitive hand arm and body movement on a continuous basis. Frequent public and coworker contact occasional working alone.
