Primary Purpose of Position:Provide leadership and management for the vocational technical programs within the assigned CTE cluster. The CTE Chairperson ensures highquality curriculum effective instruction and continuous improvement while fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes equity values diversity and prepares students for career and postsecondary success. This position requires strong instructional and organizational leadership to build collaborative relationships with staff students families and community partners while maintaining high professional standards.Professional Responsibilities:1.Instructional Leadership and Curriculum Developmenta.Supervise and support curriculum development aligned with Massachusetts Vocational Technical Education Frameworks.b.Facilitate curriculum adaptation to reflect evolving industry standards and integrate realworld applications.c.Support projectbased learning and competencybased instruction across all cluster programs.d.Assist teachers in setting and attaining instructional goals through coaching and professional growth plans.e.Promote the use of data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.2.Staff Supervision and Evaluationa.Observe and evaluate instructors to ensure highquality instruction adherence to safety practices and alignment with industry standards.b.Develop and monitor teacher improvement plans as needed.c.Assist in the recruitment hiring and retention of cluster staff.d.Schedule and lead regular cluster and department meetings to foster communication and collaboration.3.Student Scheduling and Supporta.Collaborate with School Counseling Special Education and English Learner Departments to coordinate student schedules.b.Monitor cooperative education placements and collaborate with the Director to ensure appropriate student assignments.c.Approve and oversee field trips guest speakers and other enrichment activities that enhance learning.d.Oversee competency reporting and ensure accurate grading practices.4.Fiscal Management and Budgetinga.Prepare manage and monitor the budget for all cluster programs.b.Solicit and process purchase requests ensuring alignment with instructional needs and budget guidelines.c.Coordinate the procurement and distribution of instructional materials supplies and equipment.d.Develop and monitor short and longterm plans for equipment acquisition maintenance and preventive care.e.Ensure compliance with safety and preventive maintenance standards including annual equipment checks.5.Facilities and Equipment Managementa.Oversee the maintenance repair and inventory of all cluster equipment.b.Ensure learning environments shops and labs are safe organized and conducive to effective instruction.c.Supervise instructional school and community projects to ensure educational value.d.Develop timelines for preventive maintenance and arrange service as needed.6.Program Promotion and Community Engagementa.Coordinate and lead Advisory Committee meetings ensuring stakeholder input on curriculum and industry trends.b.Organize Open House and other clusterrelated events to promote programs and engage the community.c.Build and maintain partnerships with industry leaders and postsecondary institutions to enhance student learning and career opportunities.7.Administrative Operationsa.Maintain accurate attendance payroll records and compensatory time accrual for staff.b.Approve professional development course reimbursements and professional day requests.c.Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures.d.Attend and participate in schoolwide meetings including Safety Committee and CTE Chairperson meetings.e.Support the development and revision of student and teacher handbooks.8.Other Dutiesa.Monitor and evaluate shop jobs ensuring instructional value and alignment with industry standards.b.Coordinate and oversee industryspecific credentialing requirements.c.Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent/Principal or SuperintendentDirector.Organizational Relationships: 1.Reports to the Assistant Superintendent/Principal2.Works cooperatively with all administrators faculty and staff 3.Supervises the work ofa.Instructors assigned to the clusterb.Substitute teachers assigned to the clusterc.Preservice teachers within the cluster (in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment)d.Aides and specialists assigned to the clustere.Clerical/support staff for the clusterQualifications (Preparation Experience Competencies Personal Attributes): 1.Massachusetts licensure as a Vocational Technical Supervisor/Director required.2.Masters degree preferred; Bachelors degree required.3.Current professional licensure as a Vocational Technical Educator.4.Minimum of five 5 years experience as a teacher in vocational technical education.5.Strong leadership skills with experience in instructional supervision curriculum development and program alignment with Massachusetts Vocational Technical Education Frameworks.6.Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining a safe learning environment including knowledge of OSHA standards.7.Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and management including familiarity with relevant industry tools software and digital learning resources.8.Excellent organizational managerial and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students staff families and community partners.9.Strong verbal and written communication skills.10.Ability to work as part of a team take initiative and adapt to evolving student and program needs.11.Commitment to fostering equity and an appreciation for diversity in Career and Technical Education.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hand to finger handle or touch. The employee is frequently required to stand walk and reach with hands and arms.
