POSITION SUMMARY:
The Early Learning Center Lead Behavior Specialist (Lead BHS) supports the ELC Program Quality Director to create quality early childhood programming with a particular emphasis on assessments behavior interventions and tracking including training and coaching behavior support and program quality staff.
The ELC Lead BHS collaborates with the ELC Program Quality Director on reviewing assessments and portfolios and trains all staff on use of Conscious Discipline and the Pyramid Model for Social and Emotional Learning for classroom management to enable access to curriculum for all students.
The ELC Lead BHS assists in the development of Program Quality Team and Behavior Specialists providing feedback on performance to the ELC Program Quality Director.
The ELC Lead BHS fillsin in classrooms as needed.
This role spends approximately 80 of their time in ELC sites.
CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION:
- Memorandum of Eligibility through Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
- Placement on Nevada Registry at Level 4 or higher.
- Complete a minimum of 24 hours of professional development annually.
- Be in good standing with the Nevada Registry.
- Complete all required trainings for Conscious Discipline and the Pyramid Model for Social and Emotional Learning.
- Must be registered trainer with Nevada Registry or willing and able to become an approved trainer in 90 days.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Education Health and Human Services Early Childhood Education or other related field required.
- Two 2 years of experience caring for or working with children in a school setting required.
- Must have the minimum number of ECE credits and or education per Nevada Registry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Observe classrooms on a daily basis and provide feedback and coaching to teachers and staff.
- Provide guidance to PQTMs and BHSs on challenging class or student cases.
- Provide PQ team training on ITERS and ECERS checklists and ASQ and Brigance assessments.
- Track completion of ITERS and ECERS checklists monthly.
- Track completion of ASQ assessments.
- Review assessments including ASQ assessments and student observations monthly and make referrals for appropriate evaluation in a timely manner.
- Followup on referrals on a weekly basis to ensure appropriate service delivery.
- Track monthly letter identification assessments for Mustang students.
- Meet with full PQ and BHS teams weekly.
- Audit student portfolios monthly.
- Conduct new hire training for Conscious Discipline and the Pyramid Model for Social and Emotional Learning.
- Teach and coach PQ team in strategies consistent with Conscious Discipline and the Pyramid Model for Social and Emotional Learning.
- Ensure PQ and Behavior staff are regularly recognized for outstanding work in any performance area as per staff recognition programs and policies.
- Ensure and facilitate monthly change overs.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of staff resource rooms.
- Create and update training calendar on an annual basis.
- Schedule monthly trainings in accordance with Nevada registry standards regarding length of training topic attendance verification and completion documentation.
- Support sites and PQT in maintenance of staff training records.
- Maintain and update Best Practices guides.
- Provide supervision of students as necessary.
- Attend and participate in various training sessions and staff meetings.
- Provide other support to ELC Program Quality Director as requested.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with community partners staff members and parents by consistently demonstrating GREAT values.
- Use words and body language that show compassion for each childs and familys unique circumstances.
- Adhere to dress code policy by wearing uniform and other apparel items as required for the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Proof of a negative Tuberculosis test.
- Must be able to perform duties which require walking talking hearing standing sitting and/or bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel run and/or climb.
- Must be able to use hands and arms to enter data into the computer use the telephone and other office equipment.
- Must be able to perform surface and deep cleaning appropriately using potentially hazardous cleaners including bleach as needed.
- Must be able to lift move manipulate and or hold objects up to 45 pounds. Objects that exceed the 45pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving lifting or manipulating.
