What you will do:
The primary role of this position is to gather detailed salmonid harvest data from sport and/or tribal fisheries on the lower Deschutes River. Some of the duties will include:
Determine natural or hatchery origin of fish harvested.
Determine number of fishers and time spent fishing.
Record fish mark and fishers use data.
Collect coded wire fish tags from hatchery fish.
Summarize harvest and use data.
Routinely answers questions from the public associated with Deschutes fisheries and Department management programs.

What we are looking for:
Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however we are seeking applicants with the following experience or skills. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with these skills and background:
Experience conducting angler (creel) surveys identifying adult and juvenile fish species (especially salmonids) collecting and accurately recording field data computer skills and customer service)
Selfmotivation adaptability to varied conditions and responsibility for data quality.
Ability to conduct field work under a variety of weather conditions ranging from heat in summer to cold in winter.
Anyone who has or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences.

The salary listed is the nonPERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95.
