The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is the largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital in Canada as well as one of the worlds leading research centres in its field. Our services are delivered to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. Our goal is to tailor treatment to each individual providing patientcentered comprehensive coordinated care. The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) a research centre within CAMH is harnessing the power of highperformance computing to integrate and analyze the wealth of data generated about the brain. Our research is performed in an open science environment with an emphasis on reproducible datadriven research and a patientcentric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The Centre operates as an incubator for medical technologies to identify manage and treat mental illness while shaping policy at national and global levels.
Position Details:
Reporting directly to the KCNI Research Manager and working closely with the Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) and Chief Clinical Informatics Officer (CCIO) CAMH is seeking a fulltime 1 year contract Research Analyst to support several research activities across the portfolios of the CHIO and CCIO within the Information Management Group at CAMH. This position offers the opportunity to be part of an active interdisciplinary and productive team working with crossfunctional areas across CAMH. This position is located at 250 College Street.
This position will require expertise in clinical informatics health informatics health information systems enduser engagement and knowledge/experience in implementing and evaluating complex health information technologies in a mental health and addictions setting. The ideal candidate will be supporting research and evaluation activities for improving and optimizing existing and new clinical information systems at CAMH. The candidate will be working alongside an interdisciplinary team of clinicians project staff technical staff and research staff and will be capable of conducting research and administrative tasks independently and with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have combined experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis as well as experience supporting the development of numerous knowledge outputs (i.e. academic publications reports presentations etc. for a variety of audiences. The candidate will be expected to support grant submissions literature reviews writing abstracts creating surveys creating quality improvement ethics applications and other related activities. The individual will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate must have a bachelors degree in health informatics or related field or related degree combined with 1 year of relevant research experience. Additionally the candidate must have:
- Demonstrated experience supporting the research life cycle. This includes supporting the development of grant proposals/applications setting up new research studies by acquiring appropriate internal approvals (i.e. research ethics) setting up study materials and instruments (i.e. consent forms interview guides survey instruments) recruiting and collecting data from study participants analyzing research data and synthesizing this date into various knowledge outputs.
- Previous experience conducting academic literature reviews (systematic scoping and rapid reviews) and environmental scans to identify relevant studies case examples and clinical outcomes.
- Previous experience in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research data whether through interviewing key knowledge users deploying surveys soliciting feedback/input from key knowledge users or analyzing backend data from clinical applications.
- Previous experience synthesizing research data for academic publications and reports including qualitative and quantitative data gathered from interviews focus groups surveys and other data sources and presenting this data in an understandable format for various knowledge users.
- Demonstrated experience liaising/engaging with interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams and knowledge users including patients caregivers clinicians informaticians/technologists policy makers and health administrators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Acrobat Reference Management Software (Mendeley EndNote & Covidence)
- Excellent interpersonal communication (oral/written) and organizational skills along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong ability to multitask produce high quality evidencebased and accurate work while meeting project deadlines and deliverables.
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
