OneYear Woodworking TeacherMaine Coast Waldorf School Freeport MaineStarting August 2025Founded in 1984 Maine Coast Waldorf School serves approximately 260 children from parent/toddler through high school. We are an accredited Waldorf program with more than 50 fulltime faculty members currently offering: two world languages handwork woodworkinstrumental and choral music movement class and a variety of seasonal extracurricular activities.Position: This is a fulltime oneyear position to cover for a colleague on leave for theacademic year. This position will involve teaching carving and furniture making to students in grades 48; as well as additional duties and meeting responsibilities (crosswalk duty recess duty trips after school meetings on Thursdays and other duties associated with a teacherrun school). The projects for grades 48 include: Grade 4Butter knife bird Grade 5Spoons Grade 6Sword Grade 7Bowl Grade 8ThreeLegged stoolTools used for these projects include: Slyd knives rasps gouges saws hatchets drawknives spokeshaves drills planes and more. This position has the responsibility for maintaining the tools and the woodshop space.Qualifications: The ideal candidate has Waldorf training and a degree in education. Any candidate must have experience in projects similar to those listed above. Teaching experience and previous work with Waldorf schools is highly desirable.
