TITLE: AGRICULTURE TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject area
Bachelors degree in Agriculture Education
Valid Fingerprint Card
Highly Qualified in appropriate subject area
Demonstrates organizational ability
Clear and professional communication skills (verbal and written)
REPORTS TO: Administrator(s) as designated by the Principal or CTE Director
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOAL: Under direction of the site principal the Agriculture teacher plans develops and conducts classes related to agriculture assists officers committees and members of the FFA chapter and supervises student Supervised Agriculture Experience programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
1. Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the needs interests and abilities of individuals to ensure student achievement.
2. Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
3. Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities.
4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
5. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives.
6. Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs; requirements of the districts curriculum framework and knowledge of student growth and development.
7. Plans for and utilizes instructional methods resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives.
8. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis seeking the assistance of Exceptional Students staff as required. Provides input when necessary to students IEPs.
9. Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
10. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law CGUHSD policy and administrative regulation. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
11. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
12. Establishes professional relationships with colleagues students parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
13. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers. May evaluate paraprofessionals job performance with department chairs and/or administrators.
14. Appraises own effectiveness and demonstrates successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development.
15. Participates in school management and shares the responsibility for the total school program. Attends staff meetings PLCs and serves on staff committees as required.
16. Coordinate text book adoption process within department.
17. Manage and efficiently operate the departments greenhouse livestock laboratory agriculture mechanics laboratory and land laboratory.
18. Through the FFA assist students to develop those attitudes and skills in leadership citizenship and human relations which will contribute to their personal success.
19. Adhere to deadlines set forth by the State and National FFA for membership dues awards and leadership activities.
20. Develop and conduct a complete FFA program of activities that adheres to state and national guidelines.
21. Welding certification/experience preferred.
TEACHER CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The instructor must be ADE/CTE certified in one of the following Certificates:
SCTA
Standard Career and Technical Education Agriculture
SSCTEA
Standard Specialized Career and Technical Education Agriculture
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Certified calendar
Placement on Certified salary schedule dependent upon education and experience.
This is a contracted position.
Fifteen 15 additional contract days to supervise students SAE programs.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
