STATUS: Seasonal/FullTime Positions/Hourly
Position Summary:
The Army and Navy Academy seeks seasonal platoon CoInstructors for summer camp. CoInstructors will support the facilitation of camper instruction and activities. Additional emphasis is placed on maintaining camper accountability and managing a structured and supportive residential environment. In the absence of the platoons Lead Instructor the CoInstructor will take full responsibility for platoon oversight and all related administrative and supervisory tasks.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to:
Attend staff orientation training and scheduled daily review meetings.
Monitor the camp counselors performance and provide feedback and coaching.
Oversee everyday camper health and safety checks.
Assist in recording accurate incident reports and logbook documentation.
Perform camper assessments and communicate with parents on campers progress.
Instruct campers on specific topics based on qualifications experience and skills
Support camper leadership instruction and of individual and group teambuilding exercises.
Plan oversee direct facilitate and evaluate afternoon and evening activity periods.
Supervise campers during oncampus activities meals and downtime periods.
Oversee the assigned platoon during offcampus trips tours and activities ensuring camper safety and accountability.
Assist with camper arrival days and additional camprelated activities.
Supervise preparation and closure of dorms and campus facilities.
Mediate conflicts between campers and report any crucial concerns to senior staff.
Promptly notify an administrator or senior staff when there is reason to believe a camper is at risk or in danger due to such issues as program failure bullying sexual harassment/misconduct depression or suicide ideation.
Follow and enforce personnel guidelines as outlined in summer Personnel Policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Military JROTC ROTC or experience at Army and Navy Academy preferred
Current CPR & First Aid certification
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse population of customers campers and staff
Army JROTC teaching experience
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 21 years of age
Minimum college diploma or equivalent
Ability to establish cooperative relationships calmly and tactfully
Advanced communication and customer service skills
Ability to work as a team member and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
Effective verbal and written communication techniques
Successfully pass a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment
