Job Description Summary

GE Vernovas Power Conversion business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers power and energy needs for their highperformance applications. We work with some of the worlds major energy maritime and industrial organizations helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization including through our specialist motors drives and control technologies.
The Lead Field Service Engineer Drives under general guidance and minimal supervision performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation service and commissioning of products and services. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning of projects and provides maintenance breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

As Lead Field Service Engineer Drives you will:

  • Perform a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE drive systems at site locations.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems determine appropriate resolution and implements corrective actions
  • Develop requisite documentation to execute work e.g. commissioning procedures maintenance procedures daily logs etc.
  • Be capable of working unsupervised and leading small teams
  • Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction
  • Develop presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on drive operations
  • Coordinate additional opportunities to serve the customer with the customer service team parts other FSEs repair services sales and product engineering teams
  • Advise the customer of recommended upgrades parts and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services
  • Coordinate maintenance activities for the customer and planning for inspections
  • Provide support to engineering teams working on customer modernization projects.
  • Provide support the bidding process for the customer modernization projects.
  • Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service
  • Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
  • Perform work onboard vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
  • Extended hours / overtime maybe required during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
  • Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 5 additional years of related industry experience)
  • US Citizen with the ability to achieve security clearance for Department of Defense projects
  • Minimum 5 years of field service and/or commissioning experience

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 85 of the time on short notice
  • Ability to work at various customer sites in the Philadelphia PA area.
  • Must be physically fit to be able to board vessels offshore.
  • Must be able to pass a HUET and offshore survival course which includes activities in a swimming pool.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with GE Drive systems Including: MV7000 SD7000 MV3000
  • Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
  • Possess detailed knowledge competence and expertise with installation and commissioning tasks and services
