Job Description
South Umpqua School District has an openingfor a High School Counselor atSouth Umpqua HighSchool for the 2025/2026 school year.
Douglas County is located in Southern Oregon along the I5 corridor. Our School District consists of 5 schoolsserving students from the communities of Canyonville Myrtle Creek and TriCity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- AValid Oregon school counseling license
- Knowledge of Oregon diploma requirements college entrance requirements and scholarship
- Knowledge of the social and emotional needs of high school students
- Knowledge of college career and post high school options and pathways for high school students
- Knowledge of and experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with staff students and parents.
Responsibilities
- The School Counselor will provide guidance to students in the development and implementation of appropriate educational plans
- Meet with and support students with academic social and mental health needs
- Conduct timely individual counseling sessions as requested by students staff or parents
- Facilitate communication between students parents and staff
- Clarify goals and move toward appropriate solutions
- Provide immediate counseling for students in crisis
