Job Description

The individual in this position will assist the Superintendent of Schools in providing dynamic leadership that promotes excellence in all aspects of the Nauset Regional School District including the overall operations of the schools teaching and learning socialemotional learning student safety technology professional development grant management and the ongoing innovation as guided by Nausets Strategic Plan.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

DISTRICT: Students: 2007 Schools: 2 secondary 5 elementary 1 preschool

The Nauset Public School District is located on lower Cape Cod Massachusetts. Students from the towns of Brewster Orleans Eastham and Wellfleet attend with additional students joining Nauset Regional through school choice or local agreement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Curriculum Teaching and Learning:

  1. Lead the implementation of the Districts Strategic Plan across the district.
  2. Plan organize and direct the program for teaching and learning in Nauset in coordination with principals directors department/subject area coordinators school councils and districtwide committees.
  3. Oversee the development dissemination implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs.
  4. Responsible for sound articulation of the curriculum from elementary to middle and then high school by developing systematic processes and procedures for ensuring cohesive horizontal and vertical alignment.
  5. Maintain a cycle of review of the curriculum areas by coordinating strategic and longrange planning for the renewal and improvement of teaching.
  6. Keep abreast of research and developments in curriculum teaching and assessment and promote collaboration and active participation with educational leaders at regional state national and international levels.
  7. Establish procedures for the selection adoption and evaluation of instructional materials supplies and equipment.
  8. Provide oversight and guidance to principals and school councils in their preparation and implementation of annual goals and school improvement plans.
  9. Analyze Federal and State mandated standardized testing programs and accountability systems and utilize testing and other relevant data to assess program effectiveness.
  10. Create and maintain a curriculum repository for stakeholders.

Professional Development:

  1. Ensure the design and delivery of a comprehensive program of professional development in coordination with principals directors curriculum/subject area coordinators school councils and districtwide committees.
  2. Plan administer and evaluate a comprehensive professional development program that promotes the educational goals and objectives of the District.
  3. Align the annual districtwide staff development plan with the Districts Strategic Plan.

Personnel:

  1. Provide coordination between buildinglevel and districtwide efforts.
  2. Work in coordination with building principals and the Director of Human Resources to recruit hire and train instructional personnel.
  3. Plan a robust and exciting teacher recruitment induction and retention program that includes outreach strategies to area colleges and universities mentoring partnerships between new and master teachers and a process for ongoing access of new teachers to proven best practices across the District
  4. Assist in personnel matters and collective bargaining activities of the District as directed by the Superintendent.
  5. Oversee and evaluate the Chief Network Officer and Director of Technology & Information.
  6. Collaborate with the subject coordinators in each building in terms of curriculum development professional development and instruction.
  7. Lead principals in the areas of curriculum instruction assessment and professional development.

Other Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the planning development and coordination of sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum instructional programs assessment technology and professional development.
  2. Share responsibility for school committee meetings as directed by the Superintendent.
  3. Write grants relating to curriculum teaching and assessment and work in coordination with the Director of Finance and Operations to manage awarded grants.
  4. Work in coordination with the Director of Student Services Director of Technology and Information Chief Network Officer and the ELL Program Coordinator with regard to their respective engagement with the general curriculum.
  5. Act as the Districts Coordinator of Title 1 and Title IV.
  6. Act as the Districts compliance officer with regard to current or future mandates from the State or Federal government regarding curriculum instruction or other initiatives.
  7. Provide leadership of the Districts instructional technology initiatives that focus on the integration of technology as a tool of teaching and learning.
  8. Represent the district as a liaison with a variety of community groups including selected civic professional and volunteer community groups and agencies.
  9. Serve as the chief administrator of the District in the absence of the Superintendent.
  10. Perform other professional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensure Supervisor/Director and/or Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent preferred;Doctorate preferred/Masters required; minimum of 5 years of experience inPreK 12 school administration and educational leadership; Minimum of 5years of PreK12 teaching experience.
