PURPOSE
The Maintenance Technician for Islander Housing at Texas A&MCorpus Christi is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on university housing facilities including residence halls and apartmentstyle living units. The technician will work under the direction of the Facilities Director to ensure that all facilities are in good condition and safe for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance 90
Perform regular preventative maintenance and repairs on residential facilities including electrical carpentry plumbing painting HVAC and other systems.
Respond to resident requests for maintenance or repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
Use of ladders and small lifts.
Conduct regular inspections of residential units to identify and address potential maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair work completed.
Work with contractors and vendors as needed to complete larger maintenance projects.
Operate a TAMUCC vehicle and/or golf cart to navigate to and from worksites.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED.
One 1 year of related experience in building maintenance.
Additional experience may be considered as a substitute for the minimum education requirement: Five 5 years of fulltime related experience.
Knowledge of electrical plumbing carpentry HVAC and other building systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with residents staff and contractors.
Maintain a valid Driver License.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.
Willingness to work oncall and after hours as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand walk climb stairs and work in cramped or awkward positions for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional education or training in maintenance or construction fields preferred.
Previous experience in building maintenance in a university or other large residential setting is preferred.
SALARY: up to $17.50/hourly.
