Job Description

POSITION:
TheSuperintendent of Schools Dr.Tonja M.Williams Knight is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:


SUBSTITUTE TEACHER


DUTIES:
A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction managing the classroom environment and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute teachers must implement teacher lesson plans assign student class work and homework maintain classroom control and discipline. In some cases substitute teachers may be required to complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the days events. Substitutes must have teaching capabilities and able to follow oral and written directions.Establishing effective working relationships with staff and students is very important.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates musthave a bachelors degree. Official sealed college transcripts will be required upon hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk sit stand and reach with hands and arms stoop or kneel and crouch. Duties may involve risk resulting from attending to students behavioral needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment. Duties may be conducted in workrelated community settings and/or occasionally performed on study trips away from the school.

SALARY:
The Substitute Teacher title is a per diem (on demand) position with the Buffalo Public Schools. The daily rate of pay starts at $127. Substitute Teachers are required to work aminimum of 20 full days per school yearto retain employment.
