What is this career opportunity
This position performs basic installation maintenance problem diagnosis and repairs of all types of network equipment and connectivity issues. It is also responsible for cabling fiber install preparing splicing and troubleshooting inside and outside plant fiber optic cables and systems. This position supports the continued functioning of governmental services by ensuring network connectivity to state facilities. Travel is required up to 30 of the time with 10 including overnight.
What are we looking for
Associates degree in information technology ComputerScienceor a related field and
2 years of applicable cabling and network diagnostics experience
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a casebycase basis.
Knowledge required for the first day of work:
- Knowledge of data network operations including switching routing voice and video technologies
- Knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards & National Electric Code
- Knowledge of network diagnostic tools and equipment required
Skills
- Enterprise network equipment configuration and install
- Experience installing and certifying structured cabling systems
- Writing technical ticket requests and communication specification
- Experience with customer invoicing for services
Ability to:
- Learn quickly
- Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders
- Provide excellent customer service
- Communicate technical issues to nontechnical individuals
- Work independently with minimal supervision and/or as part of a team
- Data network operations including switching routing voice and video technologies.
