Job Description
GAI Consultants (GAI) is looking for a Geological Manager/Subject Matter Expert. This position is responsible for serving as a Project Advisor to the Power Generation Business Sector. This successful candidate will have the ability to work from any GAI office location a hybrid schedule or remotely.
Project Management/SME Responsibilities:
- Job duties are dedicated to subject matter expert/project advisor for abandoned mine land reclamation.
- Gives input to GAIs project manager and technical team members on investigation and design.
- Projects supported are anticipated to be abandoned mine lands reclamation.
- Has an indepth understanding of project goals drivers strategies risks and opportunities.
- Understand the companys businesses competing projects and profit impact of decisions.
- Provides multidiscipline engineering teams with strong technical engineering guidance. Possesses and applies advanced knowledge and technical skills to solve complex engineering problems or to plan and coordinate largerscale engineering projects or varied assignments requiring diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Provides expert technical consultations and assessments on engineering problems and projects. May perform independent research to find innovative and costeffective engineering solutions to reclamation.
Business Development Responsibilities:
- Serves as primary client contact for projects managed.
- Actively wins new work from both new and existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships monitoring future work opportunities communicating regularly and attending client events.
- Acts as senior company representative to the client in the community and with contractors.
- Coordinates and develops proposed scope schedule and fee for the entire project.
General Characteristics
- Wellrounded with aspects of consulting industry standards and Company protocols. Position requires a commitment and strong emphasis on client development; participation in professional societies and industry associations is preferred.
- Coming up with ideas to improve productivity of a specific team department group or division.
- Strategic thinking and alignment: Manager must understand broader organizational strategies and goals to effectively guide direct reports efforts.
- Change leadership: Manager plays an important role enacting toplevel changes across operational divisions as supporters of change.

Education
- B.S.or M.S. Geology
Certification/Licensure
- Drivers License
Technical Responsibilities
- Provides oversight and coordination of project tasks.
- Available to junior staff for guidance.
- Provides opportunities to junior staff for becoming familiar with task management and financials.
- Working knowledge of project contract documents.
- Recruiting and retaining staff.
- Interpreting the strategy of toplevel management and translating it into everyday policies.
- Developing and implementing daytoday routines for a team department group or division.
- Talent development: Develop Staff skills and empowering them as problemsolvers boosts innovation and productivity.
- Oversee learning coaching and career progression.
Management Responsibility
- Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Provides continued mentored experience to staff.
- Integrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of geology and fosters creativity curiosity flexibility and dependability in staff.
- Monitoring employee performance.
- Making sure that processes and procedures are following the overall organizations guidelines.
- Inspiring and encouraging employees to perform their best.
- Assigning and supervising specific work tasks.
- Allocating resources within a team department group or division.
- Reporting issues and performance to toplevel management.
- Wellbeing fostering: Prioritizing mental health worklife integration and enhances retention.
- Manager shapes daytoday workplace experiences.
Communication Skills
- Applies principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications.
- Represents their area of specialty within the practice and liaises with related individuals and practices.
