The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. CAD $55.91/Hr.

As a Staff Nurse youll be at the forefront of patient care working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess patients physical social spiritual and psychological needs.
  • Develop implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.
  • Make referrals to resources as needed.
  • Support fellow healthcare professionals.
  • Operate within the framework of Providence Health Cares mission vision and values.

New Graduate Nurse Program

The New Graduate Nurse Program is operated through the office of Professional Practice. This program provides support aligned to the needs of newly graduated nurses during the first 18 months following graduation. NG educator(s) offer inperson support orientation seminars consultation and workshops to support the transition from being students to autonomous nursing practice.

What You Bring

Education:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs.
  • Ability to lead patient/family group sessions.
  • Ability to provide clinical direction.

**Any new graduate nurse (temporary or permanent) is required to maintain employment at a minimum of 0.7 FTE for a minimum of 6 months.

Your Day to Day:

The Staff Nurse:

  • Conducts thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews observations interviews and collaboration with peers.
  • Develops implements and evaluates nursing care plans based on evidencebased practices prioritizing patient/resident needs.
  • Adheres to established policies procedures and PHC standards while providing highquality nursing care.
  • Monitor patient/resident progress evaluate outcomes and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results.
  • Maintains accurate records of assessments care plans patient/resident status and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems.
  • Identifies and address patient/resident and family learning needs providing education and referrals as necessary.
  • Provides direction to staff promote teamwork and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care.
  • Supports nursing research initiatives and contributes to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures.
  • Advocates for patients/residents rights and dignity facilitates discharge plans and collaborates with families and community resources.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
