Job Description

West Point Grey Academy is seeking an experiencedEarly Childhood Educatorbeginning August 25 2025. This is a term coverage position for a staff member on leave anticipated to return March 2026. This temporary position iseligible for benefits.

Junior Kindergarten is the start of a bright future at WPGA. Our teachers build joyful classroom connections incorporating community and character into thematic units purposely designed for the 4yearold mind. As a valued member of our junior school faculty the Junior Kindergarten Teacher is a certified Early Childhood Educator who provides futurefocused engaging curricula to a classroom of learners in a warm supportive early childhood learning environment.

In your first year at WPGA youll be directly involved in:


Teaching

  • Preparing and delivering engaging and interactive learning activities/materials that follow best practice in inquirybased early childhood education.
  • Guiding age and stageappropriate inquiry and experiential activities many of which take place outdoors.
  • Conducting formal and informal assessment of students
  • Incorporating appropriate technology and media in lesson planning.
  • Creating a positive learning environment that helps each child achieve their personal best.
  • Giving students opportunities to try new things and grow in developing their confidence.


CoCurricular Involvement

  • Modelling and promoting our core values and high standards of behaviour in and out of the classroom.
  • Participating in school life and cocurricular activities such as cocurricular music clubs and coaching teams.


Growing as a Professional

  • Actively participating in faculty meetings.
  • Seeking opportunities for collaboration.
  • Participating in professional development by reading professional literature and attending courses seminars and other professionaldevelopment opportunities.

About Us


Founded in 1996 West Point Grey Academy is an independent coeducational day school in Vancouver British Columbia. Set on 18 acres with sweeping views of English Bay and the North Shore mountains we offer futurefocused programs to 940 students in junior kindergarten to grade 12. 1. Screening

2. Initial Conversation 30 minutes)
