Summary
The MN Advocacy Manager reporting to the Midwest Advocacy Director will have operational responsibility for WWHAs programs and the daytoday of its mission in Minnesota. This work with guidance from the Advocacy Director will develop a deep knowledge of the regions communities cultures and political environment. This position requires some travel around Minnesota.
This is a remote position but you must reside in the state of Minnesota for consideration
Essential functions
- Actively engage and energize WWHAs partner organizations coalition members abortion funds allies and the Whole Womans Health of the Twin Cities clinic site staff physicians patients and their supporters
- Possess excellent communication and diplomacy skills in writing and speaking
- Represent Whole Womans Health Alliance at coalition meetings with partner organizations in the Twin Cities and accompany the Advocacy Director to other/statewide meetings when appropriate
- Promote collaboration negotiation and problem solving and communication
- Collaborate and work closely with coalition orgs legislators vendors related businesses and communitybased organizations to promote WWHAs mission and goals in Minnesota
- Assume leadership roles within the coalition around projects specific to improving conditions for independent abortion providers and their patients.
- Work closely with clinic leadership to ensure needs of the clinic are reflected in coalition priorities and that clinic advocacy needs are being addressed.
- Report and present programmatic activities back to the WWHA team
- Work closely with the Advocacy Director to assist coalition to develop actions that promote abortion stigma culture change by developing statements gathering direct service information and impact on state communities
- Assist in strategic prioritization of policies and strategy implementation based on needs assessment and capacity
- Balance multiple priorities collaborate with various coalition partners on projects move easily between internal project management and external communications
- Assist in planning coordination and of educational programming to include training and mobilizing community
- Build and maintain positive relations and partnerships with prochoice organizations allies and political and community leaders while identifying and cultivating new relationships to further the abortion stigma culture change work with WWHA
- Participate in and develop when appropriate local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion
- Work closely with development team to provide information crucial to drafting grant proposals and reports.
- Assure that the organizations mission programs and services are consistently presented in strong positive images to relevant stakeholders and potential funders
- Report to Midwest Advocacy Director local activities appropriate to be shared on website and social media sites
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience and General Requirements
The MN Advocacy Manager will be thoroughly committed to the mission of Whole Womans Health Alliance. All candidates should have proven relationship management experience. Demonstrable experience and quantifiable successes/qualifications include:
- A demonstrated commitment to everyones right to make decisions about their own reproductive health
- Passion idealism integrity positive attitude missiondriven and selfdirected
- Demonstrated project management experience
- A Bachelors Degree in human services related field is highly preferred
- Strong ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
- Proficient knowledge and experience using social media platforms to expand the reach of an organization
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Understanding of the broader policy and political climate for abortion and other progressive issues in Minnesota
- Living in and possessing strong ties to community in Minnesota
- Ability to travel occasionally
- Proficient skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Excel Power Point Access and Publisher
- Oral and written fluency in English
- Proficiency in Spanish highly preferred

- Where necessary must be willing and able to use new or different communications and IT equipment.
