SUMMARY
Under general supervision to provide responsible assistance in the preparation of materials for educational instructors; to set up materials and demonstrations for classroom lectures; to provide assistance to and tutor students in an assigned area; to perform clerical duties for assigned instructor; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:
Operations services and activities of an instructional program.Student instructional and tutorial techniques.Principles and concepts of assigned academic subject matter.Modern office practices procedures and equipment including computers and supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications.Theories and concepts of early childhood development.Methods and techniques used in assessing student programs.General goals and purpose of education programs.Discipline strategies.Principles and procedures of record keeping.English usage spelling grammar and punctuation.Pertinent federal state and local codes laws and regulations.
Ability to:
Provide support to instructors and students to promote a positive learning environment.Provide responsible assistance in the preparation of materials and lessons.
Provide assistance and tutor students in an assigned area.Monitor student progress and confer with instructors.Administer correct and record test results.Work with students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds ages and academic abilities.Serve as liaison among students tutors and instructors.Perform a variety of clerical functions in support of assigned instructor.Respond to a variety of requests from students and teachers.
Maintain accurate and complete student records.Operate various office equipment including computers copiers faxes and other machinery.Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience Guidelines
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Experience:One year instructional support experience.
License or Certificate:Possession of a valid New Mexico drivers license.Possession of or ability to obtain mandated Educational Assistant license and Substitute Teacher license as may be required by the District or State of New Mexico.

Environment: Classroom and office environment; extensive contact with students and staff.
Mobility: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; heavy moderate or light lifting; standing bending operating motorized equipment.
Vision: Vision sufficient to read small print computer screens and other printed documents.
Other Factors: Incumbents may be required to travel from site to site in the performance of duties.
$18.58 Hourly Rate
1.00 FTE 7 hour day 35 hour week.
198 work contract days July 25 2024 to May 30 2025
