Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Our prestigious client is seeking a talented Anesthesiologist Pain Medicine of their facility in Portsmouth VA. The right candidate will:
  • Possess a Doctorate Degree in Medicine from an accredited college approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association a Doctorate degree in Osteopathy from a college accredited by the American Osteopathic Association or permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
  • Successful completion of a residency program (corresponding to the specialty required by the task order) which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association or those Canadian training programs approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or other appropriate Canadian medical authority.
  • Possess and maintain a current valid unrestricted license (corresponding to the specialty required by the task order) in one of the fifty states the District of Columbia the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Possess and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number (certificate) to prescribe controlled substances as listed in 21 C.F.R. 1308.
  • Possess and maintain a current Board Certification in Pain Medicine from the American Board of Anesthesiology accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  • Possess two 2 years of clinical work experience within the preceding five 5 years as a Pain Management Anesthesiologist providing pain management services to patients with complex pain conditions.
  • Possess and maintain a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Duty Hours: Monday through Friday excluding the day of observance of federal holidays for an eight and onehalf 8.5 hour or a nine 9 hour shift between the hours of 0700 to 1800.
Duties include:
  • Provide a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer.
  • Technically direct perform or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals seeing patients within the scope of their clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Promote preventive and health maintenance care including annual physicals positive health behaviors and selfcare skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable. Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians clinics or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically direct and teach other medical staff and provide educational lectures and participate in the provision of inservice training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols. This requirement is consistent with the personal services nature of the contract.
  • Perform as a principal treating physician to provide clinical direction to a multidisciplinary team coordinating care with other health care providers and providing consultative services pursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.
  • Provide comprehensive medical and advanced interventional pain treatments to patients with complex pain conditions including consultation management monitoring evaluation and treatment.
  • Participate in an onsite designated Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) telementoring training program.
  • Participate in telementoring telemedicine and teleconsults.
  • Travel/Training. The HCWs may be required to travel to provide services or attend offsite training/meetings/symposia; regularly scheduled onsite training may also be required.
  • Attend the Annual Navy Pain Symposium/NCPMP meeting.
