The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety stability and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit.

Job Summary:

The STEPS Family Advocate will provide crisis intervention and help stabilize the crisis which will prevent the removal of child(ren) from the home. This position will conduct facetoface contact with the family each week and will do followup after the services are in place with the family. This position is a direct service personnel.

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts interviews with the families to identify strengths needs and general household information.
  • Links atrisk families with services and assists in obtaining referrals.
  • Conducts inhome services; parenting behavior modification conflict resolution crisis intervention transportation money management life skills case management and education on community resources.
  • Provides regular contact with families by performing home visits.
  • Documents all case activity demographic information and contact with client.
  • Maintains a case file on each family with required documents and submits case files to supervisor for review within required timeframe.
  • Ensures progress is made in service provision and closes cases in a timely manner.
  • Other Duties As needed

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a human services or related field required.

Experience: One year of experience with atrisk children and families preferred.

Licensure Certification and/or Registration: Valid drivers license.

  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication

  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word

Other Requirements:

  • Clear a Level II background screening
  • Clear a reference check
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
  • Clear a substance abuse screen
  • Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment
  • Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check and must be insurable under the companys automobile policy.
  • Provide copy of automobile insurance.
  • Provide proof of and maintain a minimum personal auto liability insurance level $100000/$300000 if deemed to be a driving risk.
  • Clear an EVerify check to substantiate that the successful candidate meets the Department of Homeland Security authorization requirements to work in the United States (for more information visit www.dhs/everify)
