Class Summary




Job Description
This position will be a critical member of the Traffic Signals Engineering section assisting with coordinating implementing and updating traffic signal timings traffic responsive plans and traffic adaptive plans. The incumbent will analyze traffic signal timings using tools such as ATSPM and RITIS data to measure the health of signal networks and preemptively identifying corridors that need timing adjustments. The incumbent will also help to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the connected vehicles initiatives as part of Gwinnett Countys Smart Corridor particularly emergency vehicle preemption and transit signal priority. Additionally the incumbent will review traffic engineering reports as well as traffic signal and ATMS designs and provide necessary revisions and recommendations.

Essential Duties
  • Coordinating and performing traffic signal timing activities
  • Implementing roll out Emergency Vehicle Preemption and Transit Signal Priority timing
  • Implementing roll out and verification of SPaT and MAP messages
  • Intaking and processing Connected Vehicle data
  • Assisting in the review of project plans for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to project guidelines
  • Assisting in the design and review of various engineering projects
  • Assisting in performing field reviews to ensure work is done according to the work plan
  • Providing technical assistance to other County staff outside contractors and the public regarding project issues
  • Preparing and reviewing various reports
  • Researching investigating and evaluating requests brought by public regarding project related issues
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level
Public Speaking Duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage with staff citizens leadership and elected officials as needed.
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
Grade
The grade for this position is C421 C431 C451 or D611. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
