Distribution Engineer

Leidos is seeking Distribution Designers and Engineers for electric utility design engineering in the Pittsburgh PA area. Youll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos reputation for highquality work is always maintained.

This role is based out of the Pittsburgh area but is largely remote in nature. Some regional travel is expected 20.

6080 Engineering and development of design packages for customer

10 admin/planning/customer followup

As a Distribution Engineer You can expect to:

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for Leidos electric utility customers
• Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
• Perform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading guying calculations specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
• Provide engineering support during construction including postconstruction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
• Gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments work permit development easements and ROW applications

What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

• MidLevel: 2 years of relevant work experience performing electric distribution design engineering either in a consulting environment for electric utilities or working directly at an electric utility; Senior Level: 4 years of relevant experience
• Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution will be preferred but relevant experience can be considered in lieu of bachelors degree
• Experience with the of distribution projects from kickoff through design approved including Customer interaction and Process documentation
• Experience with utility reliability projects
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicleas some customerrelated travel could be anticipated(Jobrelated travel will be reimbursed at IRSapproved rates)
• Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customersite visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
• Candidates should possess valid U.S. drivers license as some local or regional travel is expected

Nice to Haves:

• Previous QAQC experience
• Experience providing estimated costs development of a BOM calculating the CIAC
• Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman OCalc SpidaCalc
• Experience with the Work Management System CREWS
• 1 year or more of Relevant management or leadership experience
• Relevant experience with the utility FirstEnergy or its subsidiaries
