Job Description

Summit Learning Charter is a blended virtual school that is sponsored by the Estacada School District. Summit is hiring a Full TimeEarly College & Virtual Academy Advisor to support our growing charter school and amazing school community.

Our tried and true approach to student success is centered around building a relationship with each student and family. Interested applicants must be a team player with a positive and inspiring attitude and with diverse experiences working with high school students.

Job Setting:This position will primarily be as a permanent substitute advisor for students in the Virtual Academy High School Program & Early College Program. This may also include taking on students to balance caseloads as enrollment grows. This position will have duties that can be done at home but the applicant will also need to report to our Eagle Creek location 2x per week to support our enrichment activities as well as approximately 1 Friday a month for all staff meetings. There will also be occasional events where staff are expected to attend in person on a rotating basis.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree Required.
  • Experience with the education process & eagerness to support students
  • Experience in the customer service environment
  • Excellent communication skills in all formats
  • Strong computer / technical skills and willingness to learn new digital applications
  • Self directed to learn to utilize interventions and instructional strategies to improve student outcomes
  • Effectively track student data for a caseload of appx. 80 students
  • Ability to motivate and engage with students and families
  • Drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Conduct one on one advising meetings with students each term
  • Specific for Early College Students Creation of student schedules that first meet high school requirements followed by AA requirements
  • Specific for Virtual Academy Student Forecast classes each term and monitor progress weekly
  • Work with students on post secondary preparations and transitions including support with interfaces such as FAFSA ORSAA College Board Common App BigFuture etc.
  • Regular communication with parents and students to nurture engagement
  • Log communication / meetings as attendance and add student notes to EngageSIS
  • Schedule assessments as needed
  • Help facilitate / monitor enrichments monitor study halls and tutoring sessions
  • Conduct new student orientations
  • Observe and discuss the progress of students with teachers parents and other professional staff to support personalized learning
  • Audit edit and correct transcripts provide unofficial transcripts to students at the end of each trimester and help students prepare and send out transcripts and letters of recommendation to colleges with applications.
  • Familiarity with CTE pathways/programs community college certifications state testing and AA transfer degrees as connected to Oregon colleges and universities.
  • Participate in Iteam IEP and 504 meetings for students in assigned caseload
  • Collaborate with case managers and mentors to better support students who may be at risk or who need additional support and accommodations
  • Create and support students with Academic or Grad Plans as needed
  • Participate in & help plan Open Houses Transition Events Field Trips Family Events Enrichments high school specific events etc. as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
    • Curriculum development / collaboration
    • Cross training for Advisors between Early College & Virtual Academy
    • Program support and project support for Early College & Virtual Academy
