Job Description

Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multistep progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform technical work in the installation maintenance repair and programming of transmitting receiving and other communications equipment for the Police and Fire Departments and other City of Montgomery departments having communicationsequipped vehicles. Duties include the assisting and assembling installing servicing repairing and programming radio transmitting and receiving equipment; and completing equipment record sheets and repair forms. Other duties include assisting and performing the assembling installing servicing repairing programming and certifying Public Address (PA) Systems Weather Warning Sirens/Network Vehicular Siren Equipment Knox Box System Equipment Vehicle and Body Worn Digital Video Camera Systems Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) Equipment Public Safety Radar Guns and Mobile Radar Sign Equipment and P25 and EDACS Trunked Simulcastand Multisite infrastructure equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Electronic Systems Supervisor and/or the Assistant Electronic Systems Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have two 2 years of recent experience maintaining trucked radio systems and subscriber units maintaining P.A. (public address) systems and maintaining weather warning systems and subscriber units. Must have completed a certificate in Electronic Communications. An Associates Degree or higher in general electronics technology may substitutefor the certificate.


NOTE: Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Alabamadrivers license and have an insurable driving record in order to drive Cityvehicles. Employeesmust have a working contact phone number.Employees are required to be on call 24 hours a day including weekendson a rotational basis. Must live and respond within approximately 1 hour to theEmergency Operations Center during natural manmade or technologicaldisasters. Must be willing to attend outoftown training which may requireovernight stay as needed.

Kind of Examination
