Job Description

Primary Purpose
The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher has excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills; connects with mentor and coach other teachers on STEM lessons projects and activities. The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher will creatively and energetically lead and cofacilitate with the coordinator major cohort activities such as opening and closing ceremony parent/student orientation parent trainings Robotics and the STEM Carnival etc. Under the direct supervision of the School of Engineering Assistant Dean for Student Success the Project Based Lead STEM Teacher will join the University of the Pacifics & Stockton Unified School Districts collaboration to implement the Reach for the Stars STEM Academy RFTSSA for the summer of 2025 on the Stockton University of the Pacific campus. Program service areas and location: The RFTSSA serves students in the Stockton Unified School District. This academy will be held in person on the Stockton Campus. Academy Overview: Our STEM academies are academically intense mathematicsbased summer enrichment programs designed for students who lack access to resources that would enable them to accelerate their learning and move into college preparatory coursework in high school. Academic goals of our academies are designed to develop and enhance skills in abstract & critical reasoning problemsolving through interpretation making connections explanation & demonstration study techniques technological skills methods and processes used to achieve goals and essential skills for college and career. Life goals of our academies are developed with each student and designed to help them develop purpose through building leadership skills and increasing selfesteem/confidence via reallife application of solving practicaleveryday problems that often have an impact on life work health and overall wellbeing. Identified students have the potential to become scientists engineers and leaders in their community yet lack access to academic enrichment programs that support their aptitude during the longest period of time school is not is session summer. Our STEM academies reinforce and encourage students to consider STEM careers take STEM classes during high school participate in their schoolsite MESA program and pursue Stem fields as college majors. Student Profile RFTSSA : Student participation in the RFTSSA is based on academic criteria. Recruitment starts while students are current 6th graders. Currently students in grades 712 participate in the Stockton academy. Once enrolled students continue their summer participation through their 12thgrade year. Program Design: The program presented over the course of six summers introduces students to progressively challenging STEM concepts at each returning grade level (rising 7th rising 12th). The collegelevel curriculum methodology covers concepts students typically experience during postsecondary education. The instructional delivery model is projectbased and focuses on introducing students to STEM via themed topics. Inclusive are pre/posttests guest speakers team projects class presentations library research field trips special events homework and skill assessments. The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher will also work closely with the Project Based STEM Coordinator with a focus on continuing to build expand and improve & enhance academy program delivery into future years. Additionally be instrumental in assisting other teachers with curriculum implementation and project development. The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher will also work closely with the Project Based STEM Coordinator other teachers and classroom Project Based STEM Teaching Assistants to deliver the daily curriculum. The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher is required to attend staff orientation Minors on Campus Training staff meetings and other program preparation activities. Project Based Lead STEM Teacher will be responsible for teaching one of the following: STEM introductory themed core topics in Logic and Engineering to a cohort of up to 257th grade students or STEM introductory themed core topics Physics and Algebraic Structures to a cohort of up to 208th grade students or STEM introductory themed core topics in Problem Solving and Statistics to a cohort of up to 209th grade students or STEM introductory themed core topics in water and computer science to a cohort of up to 2010th grade students or STEM introductory themed core topics in Aeronautics to a cohort of up to 2011th grade students or STEM introductory themed core topics in job training and mentoring skills to a cohort of up to 2011th grade students. STEM skills and knowledge will be developed in areas that strengthen students ability to problem solve; reason; conject and apply mathematical knowledge logically and systematically. Other focus areas will be: Developing critical thinking abstract reasoning and systematic analysis Demonstrating through an integrated and handson approach the application of mathematics to diverse disciplines (particularly in the fields of science computer science and engineering) and to a wide range of career opportunities Developing basic mathematical skills and knowledge Learning to communicate and reason mathematically both orally and in writing Learning that hard work perseverance and commitment result in meaningful knowledge and pride in accomplishment through experiences of success in a rigorous academic program. Academy Dates: June 2 June 27 2025. Monday through Friday 7:30 am 3:30 pm. The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher is expected to be available a week prior to the academy start date for PD classroom setup staff meetings etc. Students attend daily Monday Friday. The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher is expected to participate in the opening ceremony (parentstudent orientation) on Monday June 2nd 9:00 am 12:00 pm & the closing ceremony on Saturday June 28th 7:00 am 12:00 pm and other evening events 2 parent training evenings.

Essential Functions
The Project Based Lead STEM Teacher functions duties & responsibilities: Model effective strategies for integrating Common Core and STEM education. Design and develop engaging and ageappropriate STEM curriculum in alignment with state standards ensuring that the curriculum is relevant to the California State Standards as outlined in the contract between UOP and SUSD . Deliver highquality instruction to students utilizing effective teaching strategies resources and technologies to promote student engagement and learning. Participate in RFTSSA evaluation activities collecting data and soliciting feedback to assess the effectiveness of the program. Facilitate handson experiments activities and projects that enable students to apply their knowledge develop problemsolving skills and foster creativity. Provide guidance supervision and support to students during activities to ensure safety and effective learning outcomes. Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment where students work together in teams to solve problems share ideas and engage in group projects. Encourage teamwork critical thinking communication and leadership skills among students. Implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate student understanding track progress and provide timely feedback. Utilize various assessment methods such as tests projects presentations and practical demonstrations to gauge student knowledge and skills. Identify individual student needs and provide differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Offer extra support or enrichment opportunities to students as necessary ensuring all learners have the opportunity to succeed. Teach model and facilitate researchbased best practices within the RFTSSA . Serve as a mentor or coach for fellow teachers in STEM education topics and pedagogy. Conduct nonevaluative observations of teachers and provide support and constructive feedback. Collaborate with teachers to identify the instructional needs of students set learning goals and targets and to assist with developing best practices for continuous academic growth. Assist teachers with the collection and analysis of data to inform instruction including progress towards pre/posttests. Maintain predictable and regular positive daily attendance at work site and maintain a neat appearance suitable for public contact. Verify completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training Sexual Harassment Prevention Training and any other required trainings within the first week of hire. Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree Administrative Credential & valid Multiple Subject Credential or Single Subject Mathematics or Science teaching credential or STEM Degree/certification. Ten 10 years minimum of related work experience.

Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring teachers preferred. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations. Demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Ability to speak and understand Spanish. Understand and support The Tomorrow Projects mission and philosophy and to promote a positive image of the program. Contribute to a harmonious program atmosphere by working cooperatively with all colleagues. Respect the confidentiality of private information relating to students colleagues and the operations of the program. Refrain from establishing close relationships with colleagues students parents or trustees that would compromise professional integrity. Demonstrate responsibility and punctuality. Model the good character traits that academy students are expected to embody. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Schedule
Most work is performed during standard business hours Monday Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm. Must be flexible to work on selected evenings for various administrative functions.
