Primary Purpose Of Position
This position in the Budget and Planning department will be responsible for applying professional knowledge of the concepts and principles of accounting in preparing complex financial statements and reports as needed in support of NCA &T faculty staff and departmental needs. This position will have experience with facilitating and implementing process improvement initiatives and software implementations. It will perform a variety of accounting duties such as verification reconciliation report preparation and analysis and accounting ledger entries associated with accounting matters. Prepare and verify accounting transaction codes balances accounting entries maintain and report on the records relating to a departments fiscal operations. Resolve routine problems and establish new processes when applicable. Duties involve all or part of a complete accounting cycle such as billing receipts deposits expenditures reconciliation of bank statements ledger posting balancing and control and preparation of financial reports all of which require a knowledge and understanding of accounting principles. Verify eligibility of expense per policy and availability of funds. Code and process invoices. Follow up (return paperwork if necessary) with requestors regarding incomplete paperwork or lack of documentation. Run reports as requested. The Office of Budget and Planning is responsible for directing budget and financial reporting for N.C. A&T State University. The University budget is over $430 million dollars and is comprised of multiple complex funds and accounts. Preparation of state and federal biennium operating budgets is a key function of this office including the preparation of reports utilized by executive leadership including General Administration and Office of State Budget and Management.
Minimum Requirements
Masters degree in Accounting or in Business or a Bachelors with 2 years of equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
510 years of Accounting Experience is preferred. Extremely accurate with figures. Six Sigma Lean experience Experience with working with cross functional teams and leading projects Ability to interpret state fiscal regulations. Excellent analytical ability and the ability to prepare various accounting reports. Considerable knowledge of accounting/budgetary principles and practices.
