Job Description

Brown University Health: Hasbro Childrens Hospital affiliated with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University has an opening for a pediatric psychologist with interest and expertise in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) to join our Behavioral Health team including the opportunity for a Brown University Faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates must have completed doctoral training and clinical internship from APAAccredited programs.

About the Job:
  • Join the wellestablished interdisciplinary Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center Team in providing familybased comprehensive care to children adolescents and adults with SCD.
  • Opportunities for research program development and close mentorship for candidates with interest and relevant qualifications.
  • Implement screening (behavioral health and neurocognitive) assessment and brief evidencebased individual family and group interventions for children & adolescents with SCD.
  • Combine clinical service in the Sickle Cell Center with consultation in the Child Psychiatry outpatient clinic treating youth and families with a range of medical and behavioral health concerns including (but not necessarily exclusively) SCD and pain.
  • Participate in program development and evaluation of new initiatives in the innovative Lifespan Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center to enhance the patient experience and engage the sickle cell community.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of transition programming for AYA with SCD as they move from pediatric to adult care.
  • Opportunities for training/supervision of pediatric psychology and psychiatry students residents and fellows including opportunities for consultation and peer supervision with colleagues.

About You
  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Child Psychology or substantial child training and clinical experience working with patients with sickle cell disease
  • Licensed or licenseeligible in Rhode Island
  • Experience with/desire to work in an academic medical setting using a teambased approach
  • Interest in SCD program development
  • Research background in SCD a plus
  • Personal qualities that might be a good fit in this role include compassion a good sense of humor collaborative problemsolving skills and a rollup your sleeves mentality
