Job Description

Brandeis University is delighted to announce a career opportunity for an Associate Director of Community Engagement and Leadership at Brandeis University. This position will play a pivotal role in fostering student involvement in community service leadership and civic engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement this position oversees the Community Engagement and Leadership team within the Department of Student Engagement.

The Associate Director must be a studentcentered educator who supports a vibrant and inclusive campus community that works to develop and execute initiatives and opportunities through community engagement and leadership. This includes providing students with a unique option to elevate their education and work experience beyond the traditional classroom that enhances the University mission of social justice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Associate Director will lead Community Engagement and Leadership initiatives for students to engage in community engagement service and volunteerism for the larger Brandeis University Community. Develop and oversee risk management policies for community service opportunities. Manage the onboarding process for community partners student volunteer training and service hours tracking. Organize the annual Celebration of Service and Leadership Award Ceremony. Manage the Service and Leadership PreOrientation Program. Serve as a resource to students and staff on community engagement initiatives.
  • Design implement and continuously improve a comprehensive student leadership training program with a focus on preparing students for meaningful community engagement and other leadership initiatives. Provide oversight and direction for the Community Engagement Ambassador Program (CEAP). Collaborate with campus partners on community engagement events and programs throughout the year.
  • The Associate Director will provide leadership supervision professional development and evaluation of a team consisting of one fulltime Assistant Director who is responsible for signature community engagement programs and the development and implementation of cocurricular student leadership programs. Indirectly supervise one fulltime program specialist who provides direct oversight for the Waltham Group and other studentled clubs whose mission is related to service or communityengaged activities. The Associate Director will also provide leadership and support to graduate assistants and undergraduate students staff who work within the Department of Student Engagement.
  • Assist the Director with strategic planning and management of the Department of Student Engagement. Support departmental programs and events including but not limited to participate in divisional/university committees and initiatives and the work of Diversity Equity and Inclusion in making programs and services inclusive and accessible to all students.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the department and university mission.

Education Work Experience and additional Information:

  • Masters Degree in higher education student engagement community engagement or other related field required plus 35 years of total work experience with 13 years of supervisory experience.
  • Works with donors and institutional advancement partners to maintain relationships and meet donor expectations.
  • Experience with grant writing preferred
  • Drivers license required and ability to be insured by the university
  • Some Nights and Weekends required
