Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks is seeking a creative and dynamic New Media Specialist to join our Communications & Education (CommEd) team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to produce plan and develop engaging content for FWPs social media platforms while helping tell the stories that support our mission.
This job is located in Montanas capital city of Helena which is a great and vibrant community of professionals who are passionate about the outdoors. It is centrally located in Montana only a few hours away from Glacier National Park Yellowstone National Park and some of the best state parks in Montana. Additionally hunters and anglers will find some of the best opportunities in the state within 90 minutes of town.
Job Overview:
As the New Media Specialist you will be responsible for selecting producing and acquiring compelling content for FWPs social media channels. You will design static posts edit shortform videos write engaging copy and ensure that all social media efforts align with FWPs brand mission and communication goals. Additionally you will help manage and guide FWPassociated social media channels such as regional Facebook pages to ensure cohesive messaging and content strategies.
Essential Functions:
Content Creation & Management:
Design highquality static graphics and visual posts.
edit and produce shortform videos tailored for various social media platforms and audiences.
Write clear engaging and audienceappropriate copy that aligns with FWPs goals and campaigns.
Social Media Strategy & Growth:
Develop and maintain a strategic content calendar.
Analyze social media trends and platform updates to optimize engagement and reach.
Track and report on social media analytics to inform strategy adjustments.
Collaboration & Engagement:
Work closely with CommEd staff to align social media content with overall communication objectives.
Manage and guide FWPassociated social media accounts including regional pages to maintain consistent outreach.
Respond to and engage with social media inquiries as needed.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure content meets ADA accessibility guidelines and follows FWP brand standards.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Excellent knowledge of communications especially electronic communications methods and media including web coding; copywriting; editing and proofreading for spelling grammar and style; marketing and customer service; use of keywords; metadata and metatags; website navigation principles and web structure.
Knowledge of current industry standards and techniques and ability to stay current.
Skills:
Essential technical skills include expert abilities in website publishing HTML coding a thorough knowledge of webpage construction social media strategies social media techniques basic video editing techniques digital marketing and various strategies for developing digital graphics packages.
Graphic design and video editing skills.
Strong customer service skills to interact in nontechnical clear terms; assist with difficult technical tasks including the creation of specialized webpages to contribute to overall success.
Possess expert proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Knowledge skills and abilities are typically acquired through a minimum of a bachelors degree in Internet Technology Web Programming Digital Communications English Business Administration Marketing Library Science; or related field and at least two years of jobrelated work experience in Communications Graphic Design Information Management Journalism. Work experience should be focused on developing and writing web content professional webbased content management including webpage layout content and design; electronic/web publishing or web editing and content management and Internet research. Other combinations of experience and education will be considered on a casebycase basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing and growing social media platforms for a business or a nonprofit.
Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite).
Knowledge of social media analytics tools to track performance and make datadriven decisions.
Familiarity with social media best practices for engagement and audience growth.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Experience in content planning and scheduling tools
