What Youll Do

Epic is looking for an experienced Environment Art Lead to work with our environment team on projects under the Fortnite IP. You will lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary artists to create and maintain the Environmental vision for the game. You will need a balance of technical capability creative thinking and the strong ability to lead a team in the development of content for our POIs Biomes and prop sets. Working closely with the Environment Art Director youll be responsible for maintaining the artistic direction of the world conducting reviews providing feedback to the team collaborating with Design Leads all while holding the highest quality standards.

In This Role You Will

• Be highly creative ideate and help drive the Seasonal Art Direction forward
• Work with Discipline Leads and Outsource partners to keep team momentum moving forward while you deliver engaging player experiences
• Lead the development of a group of Environment Artists and Level Designers helping identify great ideas as you steer them through the production pipeline
• Implement the highlevel goals of Environment Art Direction; help guide artists and implementation toward shipping
• Ensure the core narrative goals and visual pillars of the game are being achieved
• In conjunction with the Art Director deliver constant feedback to a fastmoving team
• Represent the Art Director when necessary in meetings and discussions

What Were Looking For

• Required: An online portfolio of previous professional and personal work (please provide any needed passwords on your Resume)
• Youre passionate collaborative innovative and solutionsbased. Youre humble low ego and know how to represent or rally a team with confidence. These traits equal success at Epic and influence all that we do
• Strong understanding of the Environment Art processes for games; architecture and the integration of natural and manmade environments (e.g. you have a proven track record of creating innovative environments that feel fresh but also have mass appeal)
• Strong understanding of Unreal Engine (UE5 and a variety of DCC tools not limited to but including various 3D packages Substance Designer and Painter Zbrush
• Experience working with internal concept and development teams whether local remote or external vendors. The ability to receive deliver and implement clear feedback is a must
• Experience working with both Level and Game Designers around core game loops
• Deep understanding of what makes for an engaging player experience (Bonus: youve shipped games on multiple platforms mobile is a plus)
• Understanding of performance and optimization and you have smart approaches to maximizing asset reuse to deliver an optimal experience at a high level of finish
• Deep knowledge of the technical aspects of game art creation: you will need a strong understanding of art fundamentals lighting composition art styles and color theory
• Experience as a Lead overseeing a large art development team with an ability to mentor and promote continued growth; both professionally and personally
• A highly organized individual who has experience working with Production to appropriately scope tasks
