Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology Immunology and Pathology MIP within the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences invites applications for a tenuretrack 9month appointments at the assistant or associate professor level. The successful candidate will participate in the Mycobacteria Research Laboratories MRL mission within MIP . The MRL was founded in 1986 by Dr. Patrick Brennan. Since then the MRL has been at the forefront of mycobacterial fundamental and translational research including vaccine drug diagnostic and biomarker development for tuberculosis (TB) leprosy and emerging nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases. The MRL currently has thirteen faculty members with access to exceptional facilities and resources. All faculty are internationally recognized and devoted to research and training. The faculty member will play a pivotal role in mycobacterial research and work with other faculty to develop implement and apply MRL programmatic initiatives. We are seeking a strong team player candidate with a portfolio in mycobacteria research that: 1 is grounded in basic research with expansion into human clinical and/or applied research 2 emphasizes research with diseases caused by mycobacteria other than Mycobacterium tuberculosis particularly M. leprae and 3 includes an interest in understanding drug resistance or drug tolerance. Successful candidates must also show experience in teaching or mentoring understanding of equity and inclusivity challenges and be willing to further develop their careers to include these activities. Career advancement in this series requires excellence in research teaching and service with a specific emphasis in the capacity to make recognized contributions to CSUs MRL research program.
