Job Description
Job Title: Title One Part Time Educational Aide Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
Reports to: Principal Pay Grade:Part Time
Dept. /School:Campus Days: 19.5 Hours Per Week
Supervises: None
Primary Purpose:To assist the teacher in carrying out the prescribed program for each student.
Qualifications:
- Ability to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements:
- Associates Degree 48 semester hours or pass academic assessment test (PAT)
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Some experience working with children
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with teacher(s) and students.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works with and positively impacts identified at risk children from varied backgrounds in conjunction with ESSA guidelines to prevent them from dropping out of school
- Exercise initiative in developing creative activities to supplement and reinforce learning
- Be very familiar with all materials kept in the classroom as well as those that are brought in at various times
- Assist the teacher in keeping materials stored in proper places when not in use
- Be punctual
- Conduct group activities
- Aid in the construction of teaching aides and materials
- Be familiar with and able to operate audiovisual equipment
- Assist in grading papers and recording scores
- Assist the teacher in preparing work materials e.g. Laminating and typing
- Assist the teacher in keeping orderly files of each students program
- Be optimistic and cheerful when working with students
- Exercise firm but kind control of students behavior abiding by the teachers policy
- Share responsibility for decoration of the classroom
- Assist in duty as assigned by the school principal
- Assist the teacher with classroom control emphasizing courtesy and good manners

- Able to accept the teacher as authority of the classroom realizing that as the teacher exercises authority he/she also assumes and is accountable to other school authorities and parents for the instructional program of the room
- Be subject to transfer or reassignment as necessary
- Subject to split teacher assignment as needed
- Dress professionally and appropriately
- Ask for clarification of policies as necessary
- Knowledge of computers would be helpful
- Refer questions about the program and students in the program to teachers
- Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the principal
