The Michigan IRACDA program supports postdoctoral fellows as part of the NIH Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Awards. The proposed fouryear program for each trainee scholar involves an initial three years of 75%time research training coupled with 25%time teaching at one of two partner institutions: Henry Ford College (HFC) and Wayne County CC District (WCCCD). The first 3 years would be paid for by the K12 grant while the 4th year is paid for by the mentor and is expected to allow the scholars to complete their research projects carry out some teaching and work towards securing a faculty position. The mentoring of teaching will be done by faculty at HFC and WCCCD. Our selected scholars will be involved in course planning and management and as they progress they will give lectures and be involved in mentoring activities.
