Fixed Income Rates Trader

We are looking for an experienced trader to join Vanguards Fixed Income Global Bond Index Team. This is a risktaking and risk management role with significant opportunity and expectations to make valuable contributions to Vanguards fixed income portfolio management and trade process. Responsibilities:

• Negotiates and executes trades for fixed income managed portfolios. Measures the impact of trades on the relevant portfolios. Maintains relationships with security dealers. Acts as a back up in investment decisionmaking function when the portfolio manager is off the desk. Authorized to invest cash flows across markets and act as portfolio manager with a risk controlled level of discretion.

• Performs market and risk analysis for the portfolio management team to identify critical data for decisionmaking. Tracks relative value withing relevant sectors. Interprets risk of new events across a broad sector class.

• Develops evaluates and acquires models for analyzing investment strategies and cost analysis for executions. Generates complex performance attribution reports identifies and resolves issues to produce accurate analyses.

• Responds to fixed income desk inquiries pertaining to bond trading information and bond pricing. Performs necessary analysis and relays relevant information to the appropriate portfolio manager for action. Acts as a liaison with outside bond vendors develops and maintains strategic relationship with security dealers.

• Identifies recommends and develops process and operational improvements. Develops strategies to add value through efficient and quantitative research. Helps develop operational knowledge of less tenured traders.

• Analyzes data and develops trading and portfolio strategies with oversight. Independently generates ideas and research.

• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Five years related work experience including four years investment management experience. Fixed Income trading experience required.

• Undergraduate degree in finance or economics or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred.

• Strong analytical skillset to identify trends and evaluate market conditions.

• Consistent record of working in a teambased environment.

• CFA designation is preferred.

• Previous computer programming experience or familiarity with programming languages (ie Python) is preferred.
