A Foster Care Coach will work closely with the Foster Care Coordinator foster care staff and foster parents in providing support services to children and foster parents of La Paloma Family Services programs. These services include individual and group training assisting foster parents and advocating within the child welfare and behavioral health systems. The Foster Care Coach will also coordinate with outside agencies schools and agencies in the provision of these services.
DUTIES
The duties of a Foster Care Coach include but are not limited to:
Understanding and implementation of La Palomas mission values and code of ethics including cultural sensitivity in dealing with clients and fellow staff members.
Establish and write thorough and informative home studies.
Interpret and implement legal responsibilities.
Responsible for direct and indirect assistance and supervision of families adults and children in foster care programs.
Council and advise families and children with common problems.
Assess clients needs and level of functioning on a continual basis.
Monitoring case progress with regularity to ensure clients are receiving the best possible care from La Paloma Family Services Inc.
Conducting home visits to the family foster care homes.
Writing home studies and providing case management services to foster parents.
DUTIES CONTINUED
Conducting and advising case managers in determining appropriate types of placements for a particular child or children.

Bachelors degree
Associates degree and two years of experience in social services
High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma andfour years of experience in social services.
Experience in child welfare or human services specifically monitoring and licensing foster.
homes. Previous experience in writing home studies and assessments of family systems. Excel in time management organization and meeting deadlines. Certified PSMAPP Trainer and PSDT Trainer or willing to become certified.
Experience working with kinship families.
Proficiencywriting and speaking English.
Knowledge Skills Abilities
Ability to work cooperatively and independently with agency personnel at all levels. Willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment. Able to work under minimal supervision and meet periodic deadlines. Good communication skills with internal staff and the public. Good verbal and written communication skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
Availability to work evening hours
Ability to participate in play/recreational activities
