DESCRIPTION:
St. Pauls School seeks a Humanities Teacher to begin duties in August 2025. This position requires a desire to embrace the unique Humanities model at St. Pauls School which includes a primary focus on the integration of English and History and a secondary focus on other disciplines (religion philosophy political science geography) a background in global studies and familiarity with classroom technology. Faculty members in the Humanities Department value collegiality; candidates for a Humanities Department position must be willing to work in alignment with a team of teachers. The position requires experience in and a commitment to an active learning classroom. Humanities teachers place a priority on development of skills related to rigorous classroom discussion of course content scholarly research writing and critical reading and reasoning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The faculty member will be responsible for teaching three courses each term. Two of the courses are yearlong sections of our double credit core courses. The third class each term is a single credit elective course. St. Pauls School seeks innovative educators who are eager to participate in the academic athletic and cocurricular life of this dynamic residential community working and living with adolescents.
In addition to teaching responsibilities faculty at St. Pauls School are responsible for a variety of activities typical to the boarding school environment including advising dormitory association coaching committee work and other duties. Faculty members are expected to participate in two seasons of afternoon activities coaching one or two interscholastic team or supporting a noninterscholastic team or program. Preference will be given to candidates who have an understanding of boarding school life. St. Pauls School seeks educators who will embrace the fully residential living experience and have a demonstrated gift for engaging a diverse student body and strengthening the St. Pauls School inclusive community.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree (or higher) in a discipline within the field of Humanities.
Experience: Position requires two or more years teaching experience in a Humanities curriculum preferred. Lively interest in current pedagogy and scholarship. As part of residential boarding school the candidate must be interested in working and living with adolescents.
SALARY: Competitive based on experience.
