Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as a Systems Administrator I. Work in a dynamic and innovative environment. Ensure system stability and efficient performance. Impact the success of analytical software and dedicated hardware.

Essential Functions and Other Job Information:

Essential Functions

  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic applicationspecific support issues.
  • Installs and maintains enterprise and/or laboratory application software (including dedicated hardware) application code deployments and configuration changes.
  • Completes change requests and qualifications.
  • Liaises with other internal groups and vendors.

Works on problems of limited scope by strictly following standard practices and procedures to analyze situations or data from which answers can be easily acquired.

Learns to use professional concepts and applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.

Supervision Received

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • Previous experience 0 to 2 years) in a related role or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • General understanding of server administration and architecture (Windows Server Linux).
  • Ability to interact with relational databases (primarily Oracle some SQL Server).
  • Basic support knowledge of applications/technology being supported.
  • Basic support knowledge of desktop operating systems and desktop efficiency applications (MS Office MS Project MS Visio etc..
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of application problems if necessary working with other departments or software vendors.
  • Selfmotivated with the initiative to see issue resolution through to completion.
  • Resultsdriven approach with a strong emphasis on effective communication.
  • Positive attitude with a dedication to producing highquality work.
  • Ability to learn new technical skills.

Management Role:

No management responsibility.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office/laboratory/clinical and/or home office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • For Labsbased staff travel up to 6080 of time domestically with extended overnight stays. Light/occasional travel for corporatebased staff.
  • For Labsbased staff exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear garments and gloves.
  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently stationary for 68 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast simple repeated movements of the fingers hands and wrists.
  • Frequent mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching stooping bending and twisting of the upper body and neck.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 1520 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both inhouse and offtheshelf.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Frequently interacts with others to acquire or relate information to diverse groups.
  • Works independently with little mentorship or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multitask.
