DSHS FFA Maintenance Mechanic 2
We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as a journeylevel tradesperson in the maintenance repair alteration and operation within theChild Study Treatment Center located at the Western State Hospital campus.
As a member of the Facilities Finance and Analytics (FFA) team within ourMaintenance and Operations Division you will assist the maintenance shop performing HVAC electrical plumbing painting carpentry grounds maintenance and repairs.
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team working at Child Study Treatment Center.
Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
The expected work schedule for this opportunity is 7:45am 4:15pm Monday Friday.
Some of what youll do:- Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; hospital laboratory and air conditioning equipment
- Maintenance operation and repair of electrical mechanical and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution
- Monitor safety fire protection and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition
- Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance
- Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions
- Operate hand tools power tools and other shop equipment
- Work from plans sketches or drawings
- Estimate materials for completion of the job
What we are looking for:- Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully
- Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend through oral and written forms of communication with management peers clients and the public
- Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.
- Knowledge of standard practices methods materials tools and equipment of mechanical trades safety precautions record keeping and basic computer skills
Who should apply- Those with a high school diploma/GED
- A valid drivers license
- At least 4years of experience in building and equipment maintenance construction or repair work; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade
