KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):
- Gather analyze and review tax reports of companywide sales and purchases determine if tax was appropriately assessed prepare and remit tax returns to appropriate taxing authorities. Review and test financial and tax data.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations to ensure proper recording of tax expenses assets and liabilities. Reconcile general ledger account to assure payments were applied correctly. Adjust when necessary and update other departments on any issues.
- Review and update tax setups in LaZBoy systems including RMS Enterprise (E1 and OneSource systems each month. Notify departments of changes and/or issues.
- Review and complete necessary business licensing registrations and state/local setups for new stores acquisitions and moves.
- Gather prepare and file information for personal property tax reporting. Review the returns to the bills received to verify reasonableness. Research taxability of various transactions and maintain in all systems. Complete and send resale/exemption certificates when needed. Research and respond to various notices from governmental tax authorities. Work with Government agencies to register and/or resolve issues.
- Gather information for other departments auditors and supervisors upon request. Assigned special projects as needed. Help with training and process improvements with other employees and departments.
SCOPE & IMPACT:
Process and pay Sales and Use tax property tax returns reconciliations research and special projects. Provides guidance to internal partners regarding the taxability of their purchases by maintaining a tax matrix for their use answering questions when they arise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree with 0 2 years of related experience or equivalent
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Up to 5 Travel.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic knowledge of state and local tax laws.
- Prior accounting experience
- Experience with Enterprise 1 and OneSource Sales tax reporting a plus
