Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To provide technical assistance and professional development in the design development implementation and evaluation of activities that address the unique needs of local education agencies (LEAs) in the area of elementary math. Utilize an effective and efficient planning process based on pertinent student campus and district data sources for the purpose of assisting LEAs in instructional improvement and the meeting of LEA and ESC accountability requirements.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Texas teaching certification required

Skills

  • Experience teaching elementary math required
  • TCMPC (TEKS RS/TCR) experience preferred
  • Texas Teaching experience required
  • Successful classroom teaching experience experience with the TEKS Resource System experience in instructional coaching or related activities and experience working with campuslevel administrators preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and problemsolve
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time calendar job responsibilities and travel
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to team and organizational goals
  • Experience with teacher support preferred
  • Proven ability to deliver contentspecific professional development as well as systemic best practice (e.g. campuswide/districtwide) professional development
  • Proven ability to train and coach personnel in various school roles (e.g. teachers support staff principals central office staff superintendent)

Working Conditions:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying 45 pounds or more)
  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
  • Regular Attendance is an essential function

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Provides effective elementary math researchbased HQIM instructional support for campuses in Region 16 (e.g. ESCdesignated instructional coaching model professional development PLC support grading of artifacts etc.
  2. Provides elementary math content best practices and pedagogical expertise in technical assistance and professional development to support the improvement of instructional practices for monitoring and evaluating student learning
  3. Collaborates with colleagues in and beyond the ESC to identify professional development needs through detailed data analysis and selfreflection to provide quality services to customers that positively impact student learning.
  4. Sets modifies and meets short and longterm professional goals based on selfassessment reflection peer and supervisor feedback contemporary research and analysis of student learning.
  5. Provides statemandated trainings if applicable
  6. Clearly articulates the work plan while adhering to all departmental protocols for workfromhome and hybrid work arrangements as applicable.
  7. Creates ongoing collegial relationships with customers
  8. Travels as a part of job responsibilities
  9. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly.
  10. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
  11. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16
  12. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
  13. Supports the ESC Manifesto: mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
  14. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
  15. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures (e.g. technical assistance time and effort etc.
  16. Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
  17. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  18. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
  19. Performs other duties as assigned
