The Medical Director leads the of the strategy to align the activities of Partners eCare with the Partners Quality Safety and Value strategy. Along with the Partners Chief Quality and Safety Officer the Medical Director will cochair the PeC Quality Safety and Efficiency Steering Committee. S/he provides clinical leadership for the full spectrum of quality and safety as it relates to integrating into Partners eCare activities. This includes meeting regularly with hospital physician nursing and other clinical leadership across all Partners clinical settings. The Medical Directors activities will also include representing the Chief Quality and Safety Officer on various projects and committees. This is a part time administrative position complimentary to the Medical Directors clinical service at a Partners HealthCare System facility (and/or facilities).
General Responsibilities
Leads the systemwide efforts to leverage Epic as a tool to advance quality and safety across PHS
Leverages knowledge of ambulatory and hospitalbased quality to benefit PHS QSV and PeC. This includes all aspects of quality including effectiveness safety patientcentered equity efficiency and timeliness.
Manages daily activities of team of 24 project managers within Partners QSV to achieve key objectives.
Leverages knowledge of project dependencies and timelines across Partners eCare and QSV to reconcile competing priorities.
Partners Quality and Safety Responsibilities
Conducts comprehensive assessment of existing and planned Quality and Safety initiatives across Partners system to inform activities to integrate with Partners eCare.
Attends appropriate systemwide leadership committees to inform and implement robust quality strategy (such as clinical chiefs meetings chief medical and nursing officer councils chief quality officer council)
Meets with QSV clinical and administrative leadership teams to coordinate activities related to Partners eCare including PROMs Policy and incentives Analytics and reporting Patient Safety and Drug Policy
Partners eCare Responsibilities
Develops and manages portfolio of work as cochair of the Partners eCare Quality Safety and Efficiency Steering Committee
Leads implementation (go live) of quality and safety strategy for Epic implementation including onsite activities committee meetings and subsequent work products
Leads quality and safety strategy for Epic steady state operations following initial golives
Coordinates with leadership of relevant PeCare teams to achieve quality and safety goals including Clinical Decision Support Clinical Content Process Redesign and Registries Reporting and Training.
Responsible for processes to monitor quality and safety issues via rL solutions and help desk tickets
Provides guidance around quality and safety reporting and related measurement from Epic including safety metrics KPIs related to quality and safety and other reporting
Miscellaneous
Provides regular updates to systemwide senior and executive leadership on progress related to Partners eCare and Quality
Identify opportunities to advance the scholarship at PHS by publishing peerreviewed manuscripts based on the quality and safety activities included in the role
Performs other responsibilities as determined by the Partners Chief Quality and Safety Officer.

- Respected and practicing clinician with MD DO or similar degree required; masters degree preferred
- Minimum of 57 years of experience in quality and safety either in clinical operations or research and innovation
- Minimum of 57 years of experience in leading complex projects and teams involving senior clinicians and administrators
- Experience in the science of quality and safety improvement
- Expertise in measuring clinical quality of care for use in quality improvement
- Demonstrated experience managing crossfunctional teams and projects
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
- Understanding of the Partners Healthcare System policies and procedures community/ political landscape and market/ industry position
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute strategy

- Practical EHR experience preferably with the Epic system

- Exceptional communication skills including strong verbal written and interpersonal skills
