May not currently hold a valid nursing license.
1.High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate Program or demonstrated knowledge of competencies required to perform the essential functions of the position.
3.Spanish speaking ability required and prior clinical experience preferably in an Ambulatory setting.

1.Ability to assist patients in exam room may require lifting of patients
2.Ability to lift and maneuver equipment up to 50 pounds).

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
This position is responsible for supporting the practice as a medical assistant. Will great all patients in an appropriate manner take vital signs assist with routine and complex procedures perform EKG and assist in determining the reason for the patient visit. Will be responsible for performing testing and screening. Will be responsible for maintaining patient rooms setting up and stocking and as appropriate ordering and tracking supplies for the practice.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Greets patients in a professional manner and escorts them into the patient exam room.
2.Assists with all procedures within the practice routine and complex procedures.
3.Takes vital signs heights weights vision hearing screening and obtains EKGs when appropriate.
4.Assists in determining the reason for patient visit and prepares patients for all exams and monitors clinical flow for efficiency.
5.Performs HIV risk assessment and refers for counseling
6.Performs instruction for testing preps for procedures. Provides translations as needed.
7.Takes brief medical history to prepare patient for the visit.
8.Assists with varied procedures blood pressure checks throat cultures suture removals. Assists with complex procedures including colposcopy biopsy suturing.
9.Answers phones takes messages schedules appointments when appropriate and assists with administrative work.
10.Cleans instruments and equipment following infection control guidelines.
11.Operates sterilizer when necessary.
12.Assists with receiving test results for providers and calls patients with follow up of labs under the direction of the provider.
13.Maintains excellent customer service.
14.Maintains literature supplies in the medical literature racks.
15.Performs all other duties as assigned.
